Cops for Kids 2026 — Day 1 Kelowna to Osoyoos | 129 km of smiles, community, and purpose
By Jamie Herrington, Oliver
Day 1 of the Cops for Kids 2026 Tour kicked off in beautiful Kelowna, BC, and what a way to start the journey!
Our first day saw the team take on an incredible 129 kilometres, travelling from Kelowna all the way to our final destination of Osoyoos.
Along the way, we made stops in Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, and Oliver, giving us the opportunity to experience some incredible communities and, most importantly, connect with the families and children who are at the heart of what Cops for Kids is all about.
The kilometres are challenging, the legs are definitely feeling it, but every mile becomes a little easier when you remember why we’re riding.
Throughout the day, our team had the privilege of meeting families who have experienced firsthand the support and assistance provided by Cops for Kids over the years. Hearing their stories and seeing the impact this organization has made is a powerful reminder that every pedal stroke has a purpose.
A special shout-out to Dougie and Xena ❤️
Today’s ride was made even more special by meeting little Dougie and Xena.
Both continue to overcome their own personal challenges, but despite everything they are facing, they greeted us with smiles that could light up the whole room.
Being able to spend even a little time with them, share some laughs, and hopefully put a few smiles on their faces is exactly why we do this.
Those moments stay with you.
They remind us that this isn’t just a bike ride.
It’s about people. It’s about community. It’s about giving children a reason to smile when they need it most.
And that’s what makes every kilometre worth it.
A HUGE thank you to the folks who have hosed our team today. A journey like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity and support of the communities and businesses that stand behind Cops for Kids.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to:
Sandman Hotel & Suites
Denny’s Restaurant
Summerland Legion
Osoyoos Elks

Thank you for providing meals, accommodations, and support to each and every member of our team.
Your generosity allows us to focus on what matters most — riding, connecting with communities, meeting families, and making a difference in the lives of children across BC
From all of us on the Cops for Kids team:
Thank you.
And this is only Day 1…
129 kilometres down.
Thousands of pedal strokes completed.
Countless smiles gained.

And so many more miles — and memories — still ahead.
Day 1 was incredible, and we’re just getting started.
Until tomorrow…
Keep riding. Keep smiling. Keep making a difference.
