Day 5, Cops for Kids.

After a cosy sleep at the Prestige Lakeside in Nelson, we started out with a beautiful ride on the Balfour ferry, landing at Crawford Bay.  The new riders did an amazing job of raising funds from ferry travellers!

From there, with cold tired muscles, we climbed the hill up to Crawford Bay school to meet with the elementary students and answer their candid questions.  We departed the school enroute to Kokanee Springs Resort for an amazing lunch provided by the Kootenay Lake Lions Club.

With full bellies, we set out at a blistering pace down highway 3a to Lockhart Beach Provincial Park where we stopped to refuel and top off our water.  Re energized, we set out for our next stop, Kuskanook Harbour where a few riders enjoyed a refreshing dip in Kootenay Lake.  Our last haul into Creston involved a pace line, where riders draft each other in order to take advantage of reduced drag which eventually turns into a full on race for bragging rights as we arrive into Creston.   With 88km in the books we arrived at the Creston RCMP detachment greeted by locale members of the fire department and a family we were able to help in a time of need.   Seeing the children we help solidifies exactly what we’re doing here!  No amount of pain on the bike compares to what these children and their families are going though.  We are here to help ease that pain.  Please donate!
