Safely to Vernon

Cops for Kids riders had an amazing stay at the prestige in Kamloops and started the day with a breakfast from our motorhome on a nice Saturday morning. Although it was only 10 degrees, it was looking to be a nice and warm sunny day. The ride for today started at the Kamloops Wildlife Center towards Vernon. From the Trans-Canada highway riders climbed the Hwy 97 hill to Monte Creek in the safety of our motorcycle escorts and Police car.
Riders were spread out going up hill and a vehicle that made a less than desirable decision to drive close to the riders and passing other vehicles on the right was stopped by one of the motorcycle escort and believed to be impaired at the time. A very special thank you to our Police escort keeping our riders safe and the public along the way. The last long day continued over to Monte lake under the sun and the temperature was also climbing. Hydration and sunscreen prevailed for the rest of the day and of course an amazing lunch in Falkland provided by Sedo Deli from Salmon Arm fuelled the riders with energy to carry on the last 44km of the day to Vernon.
The riders arrived in Vernon and ended their day at the Vernon RCMP detachment where Home Depot had some refreshments and treats for the riders, the little ambassador families and the public present. Having the families present and sharing their stories and how Cops for Kids helped them affected each and every one of the riders. It did not matter if we were sore, tired and exhausted, that for me and the riders is what fuels us to do what we do. A special thank you for all the 2026 Cops for Kids riders, because through weather, temperature and terrain everyone one of you pushed and got it done. Our final long day is done, 97km today under the sun.
The riders were then able to have a last dinner together at the Armstrong Kin Hall who graciously opened their door to Cops for Kids to hold the event tonight and made a donation. Thanks you Armstrong Kin Club for your continuous support over the years and for the years to come. Riders, sleep tight, tomorrow we ride our final leg to Kelowna and back to our families. Rest well and be proud of what you accomplished.
