A Day of Rest
by Robyn Diddams, Golden
We woke this morning after a rest at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort in Cranbrook, knowing that we had a day of reprieve from the miles that we’ve covered over the past 6 days.
Breakfast of champions at ABC Country restaurant and then we were off to Fort Steele for our annual photo that will be used nor thank you gifts and sponsors over the next year. For many years we’ve met photographers Brian & Dale at Fort Steele where they find a unique location for our special photo.
From there we hopped in the vans and drove North where we unloaded for 30km of pedalling into my hometown of Golden. This year we stopped in at Lady Gray elementary for a quick visit with the kids before we had our community landing at the detachment. It was so nice of the administration staff from the Golden detachment to put together such a nice gathering for our team.
We filled our bellies there with amazing sandwiches from our friends at Mr. Mike’s in Cranbrook before we loaded the vans again destined west for Revelstoke.
In Revelstoke we unloaded at the detachment and had a short visit with Supt. David Greig who had words of encouragement to finish our journey safely. After a smooth 21km to 3 Valley Gap we reloaded the bikes to finish the day with a delicious BBQ and tour at 3 Valley that we look forward to each year.
Today was a great recharge, and we look forward to Kamloops tomorrow!
