A Night of Anticipation
“Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile thing. It isn’t the mountain ahead that wears you out – it’s the grain of sand in your shoe.”
Robert Service.
As we embark on another lap around the southeast, I’m reminded of Service’s words and of all the children and families whom we’re doing this for. Theirs is not a life of petty annoyances because they are, with body and soul, doing the hard, difficult things. They are worrying about their children, the next procedure, the next hurdle to be overcome. They need to focus on what truly matters – the welfare and success of those they love. We are all sometimes subject to minor grievances – the sand in our shoes – and need to be reminded of the fruitlessness of those worries. For me, this Cops of Kids journey is a reminder that it is the big, worthwhile things that matter. If we can ease someone’s burden, illicit a smile or make a child laugh despite it all, then surely we’ve done a good thing. Cops for Kids is an amazing group of people helping out another group of amazing people – the kids and their families. I can’t wait to begin this incredible fundraising tour. If you haven’t already, please consider donating and helping a little heart who needs it.
Now, let’s get crazy with the Cheez Whiz.
