Day 7: A Shorter Ride, A Big Impact

by Kelsey Moore, Revelstoke

We started our morning in Cranbrook, waking up at the Prestige Hotel and fuelling up with a hearty breakfast at ABC Country Restaurant. Spirits were high as we gathered at Fort Steele for a group photo, loading into a chuckwagon and onto hay bales.

Today’s first leg of our ride took us from Parson to Golden, a beautiful and familiar stretch of road to me framed by mountains. Once in Golden, we made a very special stop at a school where we had the opportunity to meet some amazing kids. Their energy and excitement gave us a boost that no energy drink could match!

Lunch was generously provided by Mr. Mike’s in Cranbrook,  and we enjoyed it at the Golden RCMP Detachment, sharing stories, laughs, and a meal among friends and colleagues.

After Golden, we drove to Revelstoke — my hometown — where the day took on even deeper meaning. There, we met a family directly impacted by the funds we’ve raised through Cops for Kids. Seeing the tangible difference our efforts make was incredibly moving.
What made it even more special was the presence of my personal cheer squad — the Revelstoke Natural Resource Officer Supervisor and my mother-in-law, both there to support me and the cause. Their encouragement reminded me how important community support is, not just for the families we help, but for those of us riding for them.

From Revelstoke, we rode the beautiful stretch to Three Valley Gap, where we were treated to a delicious steak dinner and a quick tour of the historic site.

While today may have been low in kilometers, it was high in impact. Meeting a family that we ride for, and seeing the smiles, the hope, and the gratitude, reaffirmed our purpose.
