East Kootenay Gratitude

Good Morning Creston!

This morning, our group gathered bright and early, ensuring our tires were properly inflated and making any necessary adjustments. We took a moment to reflect on the fantastic evening we had at the Kokanee Brewing Tour. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it—the tour is a must-see, and the staff are exceptional.

Our day began with a visit to the Creston Firehall, where the dedicated staff treated us to coffee and a delightful breakfast spread. With a sense of excitement about the weather and the journey ahead, we set out for Cranbrook.

Our first stop was the Yahk Kingsgate Community Hall, where we were warmly greeted by local residents and a couple of enthusiastic young cyclists who guided us to the hall. They had prepared an incredible assortment of homemade muffins, cookies, dips, and piping hot coffee. As always, the hospitality was outstanding, and their encouragement energized us for the road ahead.

Lunch was enjoyed at the picturesque Moyie Provincial Campground, a favorite spot on our travels. We were grateful to SaveOn Foods in Creston for providing the delicious meal.

We continued on our journey to Cranbrook, arriving around 4 p.m. There, we were welcomed by family, friends, and members of the Cranbrook RCMP detachment, along with local radio stations eager to hear about our adventure so far. After a warm reception, we made our way to the beautiful Prestige Inn to freshen up. While the team cycled, a Jail & Bail was held at Tamarack Centre raising a great amount to help the kids in our community. A number of jailbirds helped reach out to their contacts to bring in bail money as pledges for the kids.

Dinner was provided by Boston Pizza, a stop we always look forward to. With full bellies, we returned to the Prestige Inn for a well-deserved rest, preparing ourselves for the next leg of our journey from Golden to Revelstoke.

Stay tuned for more updates as our adventure continues!
