RCMP Musical Ride Shows in Armstrong Cancelled Due to Wildfire Conditions

The RCMP Musical Ride performances scheduled for this weekend at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fairgrounds have been cancelled due to the ongoing wildfire situation in the region.

The decision was made by the RCMP Musical Ride in consideration of current wildfire conditions and the safety of the riders, horses, event organizers, volunteers and the community.

The three performances scheduled for Saturday August 15th and Sunday August 16th were being hosted by Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation and the Armstrong Kin Club, with proceeds supporting children and families throughout the region.

“We know this will be disappointing news for the many people who were looking forward to experiencing the Musical Ride in Armstrong,” said Superintendent Blake MacLeod, Officer in Charge of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. “However, given the current wildfire situation, the safety of our communities and those involved in the event must come first. We are grateful to everyone who worked so hard to bring this special event to Armstrong, and our thoughts remain with all those affected by the wildfires.”

All ticket purchasers will be contacted directly with information regarding a refund. Ticket holders who wish to donate the value of their ticket to Cops for Kids may choose to do so, helping offset the costs associated with planning and organizing the performances while continuing to support local children and families.

“We are incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to share this special event with our community, but we completely understand that safety must come first,” said Cops for Kids President Brent Mundle. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the wildfires, and we are especially grateful to the firefighters, first responders, volunteers and community members working together during this challenging time.”
