Today, the 8th day, C4K 2017 team departed Three Valley Gap dressed for an expected cold ride. The team rolled away from the Gap’s Ghost Town with CHEERS, thanks to Allen. C4K riders and their support team travelled non stop through the Craigellaichie region (location of the last spike on the CPRail), through Sicamous , arriving at the Prestige Inn at Salmon Arm for breakfast with a number of local Rotarians. The Sandbar restaurant once again put out a great meal and Rotarian president Patrick presented the Cops for Kids foundation with a generous monetary donation .
The team saddled up and rolled away before 9:30 am and visited with employees at the SEDO Old Fashioned Butcher & Deli. From there they promptly headed to Ben’s Towing and Auto Wrecking as well as to Fischer Funeral services for photo ops with these annual supporters of the ride and its purpose. Thank you to these Salmon Arm businesses more children will be assisted through the Cops for Kids foundation in the coming years.
The serious cycling continued taking C4K out of Salmon Arm on Highway #1, through Tappen, Balmoral, Blind Bay, Sorrento arriving in Chase for lunch. Upon arriving in downtown Chase, C4K was joined by Cody, one of its little ambassador who led the team to the local elementary school (Haldane Elementary). With contributions from the Chase Safety Mart and Subway businesses, members of the Rotary club prepared a healthy and delicious meal. Chase Rotary president Doug Everett presented Cops for Kids with another generous contribution to the foundation’s cause.
The riders departed Chase shortly after heading to Kamloops. The team experienced 3 small mishaps during their travel. A flat tire, chain break, and an unscheduled dismount, urged the team to cut their rest break short near the Circle J gas station, and remounted to head into the City of Kamloops lead by a two motor cycle escorts.
After a quick stop at the Valleyview SaveOn Food store C4K proceeded to the Kamloops RCMP Northshore community police office where several local community members were awaiting the riders arrival.
A short ceremony took place where riders had the opportunity to meet some of the little ambassadors that have or are receiving assistance from the foundation.
The day ended with a wonderful and friendly dinner at the residence of a former member of the Cops for Kids Riding Team. Thank You Christine.
