Returning to the North Okanagan

by Nick Reimann, Falkland

Our last long day started after a good rest and some kind parting words from Steve Earl of the Prestige Hotel. We all slept well and were ready to tackle today. With a good breakfast at Valleyview McDonalds who also shared their success of their August fundraising event for $1 cookies was done and $8,200 cookies were sold. This is amazing to know that 8,200 people in the Kamloops & Merritt area are supporting Cops for Kids.

We hit the road eastbound making our way toward Vernon and another beautiful day was in front of us. We climbed the big hill while heading on hwy 97 and surely warmed up on that one and then made our way to Falkland for lunch. The headwind did not stop us and we enjoy a nice lunch from Sedo’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop and Deli in Salmon Arm. Our bodies were sore and the day was warm but it did not stop us to push till we got to Vernon, 115km later.

We were greeted at the Vernon RCMP detachment with families that came and shared their stories on how Cops For Kids helped them and how they were able to get through their tough times.Let me tell you that even if all the riders were all sore and tired and had enough riding today, after hearing all the stories from the families and how this foundation help them… we we are ready to jump back on our bike and carry on. It meant so much to have them come out to meet our team.

A nice dinner to hosted by a past rider James and his family, and a tonight our last stay in a comfy bed at the Prestige Vernon Lodge will surely help all the riders to reset and hit the road in the morning for the final push. See you all in Kelowna at the finish!
