Riding into Sunshine and Community: A Journey Along the Lake

As we woke from another amazing sleep at the Prestige Lakeside in Nelson. We loaded up in the vehicles and headed to the ferry from Belfour to Crawford Bay! A solid little push up the hill out of the ferry landing to Crawford Bay School where we got to interact with the kids. They always they have amazing questions.

We rode another couple KM and stopped for lunch at the Kootenay Creek Golf Course where the Kootenay Lake Lions club treated us to everyone’s favourite lunch TACO’s!!

Following lunch we started to ride along the beautiful Hwy 3a with views of Kootenay Lake the whole day.

We then headed to Kuskanook boat launch where a couple of the riders decided it was time for a swim in the Kootenay lake. Little cold plunge to keep the energy levels up for the last 30k of today’s ride.

We made our way into Creston and as we arrived in town and still had no flats for the day. We met our police escort from the local members, the smiles were big from the epic day of riding with no mechanical issues. We must have jinxed it cause as we started our final push to the Creston RCMP detachment we ….. got our first and only flat for the day.

We then landed in Creston RCMP detachment where the community came together and provided the team and riders an amazing dinner of pulled pork put on by East Kootenay Royal Lepage, Pealows independent grocer and Kootenay Smokin’ Grillz . The support the community of Creston has shown Cops For Kids this year is unmatched! Creston has come together to create the first annual Creston Golf Tournament to support cops for kids. Which will just be another amazing event supporting this amazing cause.

The riders get treated to a special tour of the Columbia Brewery to end the night, before a good nights rest at the Ramada.
