Soggy Bottoms & Hot Soup
By Jared Zeeman, Andrew Deane & Alan Profili, Osoyoos
Day two of the 2017 Cops For Kids ride with the team being treated to a pancake breakfast, graciously hosted by members of the Osoyoos Legion.
After being well fed, the team was split into two riding groups, with part of the team riding from Osoyoos to Greenwood, while the second part of the team departed Penticton with sights set on Oliver and Osoyoos.
The team was reunited in Greenwood and rode together to Grand Forks.
The riders riding from Penticton to Osoyoos were met by some much needed rain South of Penticton.
After a beautiful ride down Eastside Road, the team attended a BBQ at the Oliver Fire Department. The rain did not dampen the generous spirit in Oliver, and many donations were received.
After a lunch hosted by the Lioness Club, the team continued South to Osoyoos.
Meanwhile, seven tackled the Anarchist Summit. This is a 16.82km trek with a total ascent of 748.41m and a maximum elevation of 1,073.37m.
While struggling up some steep sections my mind would return to those little hearts, the Cops for Kids Little Ambassadors, facing much greater hurdles. This is why we ride, this is why we encourage pledges, and this is what keeps us going.
After reaching the summit and taking a few souvenir photos it was a speedy and very enjoyable descent past Bridesville and into Rock Creek for lunch. After lunch we continued on through Midway, accompanied by some much needed rain, on our way towards Greenwood where we joined up with the rest of the team.
After a short bus ride, the full ride team was reunited West of Greenwood. The team rode together to the Deadwood Junction coffee shop where the team refuelled before making the final push to end their day at the Grand Forks Ramada.
After a long days ride, the team was treated to an amazing dinner at the Omega Restaurant in Grand Forks.
Despite some early aches and pains, the 2017 Cops For Kids team is looking forward to a challenging day tomorrow, when they ride over the Paulson Summit to Castlegar.
