Travelling West in the Wet Weather
by Michel Grondin
Our 8 th day on the road started with an early continental breakfast at the motor home. After a comfortable rest in accommodation provided by the Salmon Arm Prestige Harbor front Resort, our support team worked very hard to make sure we were fuelled up for the ride to Kamloops in predicted inclement weather.
The skies really opened up as we approached Blind Bay, but the rain and cool weather could not stop us from reaching the Village of Chase in time for lunch and for our annual visit with a long time known Cops for Kids little ambassador. Thank you to our hosts and long time supporters, the Chase Rotary club, we were able to warm up and re-energized for our final push of the day toward Kamloops. With the wind at our back and receding rain clouds we reach our destination much faster then expected. After a quick visit at the front of the Valleyview Save On Foods store to show our appreciation for their support, we packed up the bikes and headed to dry lodgings at the Kamloops Coast hotel.
Sadly the C4K team did miss the opportunities to meet with our supporting public and sponsors along the way, specially the kids and families we have assisted. Although, we are thankful for being back on the road as a team and hope this year’s ride is an indication British Columbians are able to overcome these latest challenges brought on by COVID 19 and this Summer’s fires.
We will be out there again tomorrow making our way to Vernon. Thanks for your continued support.
