Type 2 Fun

Today was a tough one. It’s been described as “Type 2 Fun”. That means it wasn’t fun at the time, but maybe it was fun in hindsight?
Rain, fog, challenging roads, and tired legs tested us from start to finish—but we dug deep, supported one another, and rode hard together as a team. Our slumber in our warm cozy beds at the Western Traveller Motel was awoken for most to the sound of a heavy downpour at 5am. Never a good sign. We rode to the Omega Restaurant for another phenomenal meal, and warm hugs to send us off with hope. We had a rest at the Christina Lake visitor info centre, where we picked up a donation from the RDKB Area Rep Grace MacGregor. The Paulson Pass was relentless today 0 the wind, the rain, and the cold. At times the temperature was 5 degrees, and the rain came and came and came. At the top, Emily provided our team with a warm bowl of chili, and we all crowded into the motorhome in an attempt to warm our chilled bones.
Before we left the summit for our descent into Castlegar we added a second rain jacket to the wet rain jackets we had, layered on top of our regular jackets, and jerseys (plus the arm warmers and leg warmers).
Thankfully, when we arrived in Castlegar we were welcomed by city representatives and families who reminded us why we found ourselves freezing at the top of a mountain only an hour before. We had a lovely reception with snacks and friendship provided for us to hit the spot.
While today challenged us physically, it also gave us an opportunity to recharge our hearts and spirits by spending time with some incredible local Castlegar children and their families—Hope, Levi, Winston, Wilson, Jacque, and Sophie. ❤️
It was truly a pleasure and an honour to meet these amazing families and hear how the Cops for Kids Foundation has supported them in so many meaningful ways.
Moments like these remind us why we ride. Through the rain, fatigue, and countless kilometres, knowing that our efforts can make a difference in the lives of children and families makes every mile worthwhile.
Tough day. Strong team. Full hearts.
Stamina got us through.
